Error codeE2
ApplianceRefrigerator
Quick answer
E2 means thermistor 2 open on current U-Line models. The older Echelon list gives E2 as thermistor 1 shorted.
Model compatibility: U-Line reuses codes across series and model years, so E2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Thermistor 2 open.
On current U-Line models, E2 means thermistor 2 is open. The refrigerator, wine cabinet and beverage center manuals list it in the error log, as do the manuals for the clear, nugget and outdoor clear ice machines.
The older Echelon list is different
For the legacy Echelon models the manual gives E2 as thermistor 1 shorted. It is not available on the CLR2160, and the Origins 1115 and 1175 lists run E1 to E6. Check which generation your unit is before reading the code.
What to do
No owner step is given for either meaning. Treat E2 as a technician item and call with the code and model number.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
